The event officially began with the opening speech by the President of TARUC, Datuk Dr. Tan Chik Heok. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of the Internet as a medium of communication, a platform for accessible education and a tool for burgeoning business.

To encourage the embrace of technology and the Internet in TARUC, he announced the move by the Kuala Lumpur campus to upgrade the wireless network speed and to allow access to Youtube at the Cyber Centre (CITC) that will enhance students’ learning experience.

He ended his speech by stating his vision and hopes for TARUC to achieve global recognition with the help of online social media and the digital newsletter team with the technical support from GDS Medianet Connection Sdn. Bhd.

The event proceeded with the video presentation of digital technology and the introduction of the various faculties on campus.

The video presentations were followed by a speech by the guest speaker, Mr Suthesh who is the Executive Director of DGS Medianet Connection Sdn. Bhd. His presentation enlightened the audience on the vastly untapped potential of the Internet especially in education and he also briefed the audience on the phases of the TARUC Digital Project.

Towards the end of the ceremony, as part of the launching ceremony, prizes were given to acknowledge the effort and initiative of several individuals and teams who had already participated actively in the first phase of the digital project. It was a proud moment for CPUS as its newsletter team SPECTRA won the Best Digital Newsletter award.
